Morris gave “Maps” 1 out of 10 , after the Townhead banjo enclosures with posts and the similarity of of the Latvian ? barrow cemetery to RA here is another that may prove interesting: http://www.knowth.com/tara-orthostat.htm

    I don’t buy the “map” theory at all , landscape or astro . maybe Buzan style maps though .There are no convincing examples and in the case of areas where there are more than one panel you might expect to note the similarities between them and what they were mapping . Plus , if the engraver wanted to engrave a map we would recognise it as such .

    I still can’t get my head around all this weird passage grave stuff. All those wiggly lines. I’d not realised there was such CnR in volved. I should pay more attention.
    The implication of the age is particularly interesting in respect to re-use/representation of earlier structures. I think Morris may have been a bit harsh with a ‘1’, but I’d still find it hard to go beyond 2 or 3 at a push.

    I have just had a wee look at the “map” and it appears that rings = council tax bands .
